 Journey To Denver
Fifteen boys and four leaders from Boy Scout Troop 96 traveled to Denver February 20-22, 1999.  Our primary goal was to work on our Citizen in the Nation merit badge. However, we managed to have a lot of fun while we were there.
Saturday night, we went as far as Ft. Collins, where we stayed in the home of Walt & JoeAnn (Todd's & Russell's grandparents). Sunday morning, they graciously hosted us for a breakfast of pancakes and ham, followed by a worship service.
We went to Denver, to the Denver Museum of Natural History, where we spent several hours exploring and learning.  We attended the IMAX theater, and we watched Everest.  Later, we went to the planetarium, where we reviewed what we knew, and learned more.  Next, we found Broomfield United Presbyterian Church, where we were to spend the evening.  The boys played outside and burnt off some energy.  After supper, we went to the movies at an AMC 24-Plex Theater. Some boys  saw Blast From the Past, while the others went and watched Prince of Egypt.  We returned to the church, and played 'Sardines' where one person hides, then the others go looking for him. When they find him, they all hide with him, until the last one finds the crowd.
Monday mornning, we were up early.  We ate breakfast, cleaned the chruch, and loaded up.  We toured the Denver Mint, and learned how our coins are made.  From there, we went to Casa Bonita, a Mexican restaurant with a lot of fun things to do inside.  We left there around 2:00 P.M., and came home. We had a lot of fun, completed most of the requirements for our merit badge, and got really, really tired!!! ~ Ginny
